snowfun

here not a drop of snow, at opa and oma's a lots of snow..so a lot of snowfun and a lovely sun. very good to enjoy after we heard this week that our house hasn't been sold after all...very disappointing.

first time

Yesterday I gave a workshop for the first time at my place. I was a bit nervous. The ladies were very talented and we had a lovely time. Great to see the result of their hard work.

flamengo for the weekend

someone saw the flamengo bag on my website and asked if I perhaps could make something like it, but with the size of an overnight bag. luckily I had another piece of embroidery with a flamengodancer, which was also much bigger. I love it when things just come together. Hope she likes her new bag.

lex and dex

a good friend just gave birth to a twin. she asked me to make two puppets, colourfull and happy, so we sat together and came up with these two fellows. she called the boys lex and dex before birth. I feel so honored, she used lex and dex for the card! I love how it turned out, she did a great job. Welcome Kasper and Ruben.

house search

It's been quiet, too quiet...that's because we sold our house..which is a good thing, but it also makes me a little nervous because that means we have to find another house real soon. So I spend my days behind the computer searching for houses and driving around for a first look. today I visited 15 houses (no joke), so enough real estate agents for me for this week....I hope we will find our dream house soon.

a friend asked me to make something for her niece. She is in hospital for a major surgery. Hope she likes her present and she doing well.

my three kings

It's been quiet on my blog because I've been ill last week. While I was in bed, Roel went to a special event for kids to celebrate three kings day. The boys looked so cute when they came home, my three (!) kings. Oh yes...and ofcourse I want to wish everybody a healthy and happy 2010!

kerst op de kaap

Today I've been selling my products at a market for the first time. Michelle from vriendelijke monsters invited me, so i decided to give it a go. despite the temperature (minus 7 degrees!!) it was a very nice experience. A lovely atmosphere, theatre and a lot of creative people together.

My dad came to help me out, thanks dad! ofcourse my boys came to visit me, but jilles made it clear to me that he had missed me the last few days (I have been very busy preparing)...so it's time for some quality time together..starting tomorrow!

stars

It's a big disappointment for the boys but I've not managed to arrange a christmas tree yet. Luckily I ordered some stars from lisette and they arrived this weekend. She made them for a good cause (aidsfonds). I love how they look on the branches, so three people happy, me, lisette and the aidsfonds....the christmas tree will come, but I've been a little busy with the opening of the shop.

what a busy weekend, I'm still recovering. of course we celebrated sinterklaas, not only on saterday and sunday at home, but also at school. What a joyful happening! I just love the private chat of jilles and zwarte piet!

teus

today I visited teus. He is the newborn boy of a friend of mine. before Teus was born I visited my friend and she showed me the babyroom. She used this fabric from Ikea for decoration. So I decided to make her this tree out of the same fabric. I saw this idea on another blog or on whip up, I can't remember. I made my own figures and made the trunk a little shorter. welcome teus

new habbits

it's so funny how children develop their own habits. Last week jilles decided to change his "normal" pillow for the pillow I made him with the rocketfabric. because he only had one pillow cover (the one with the rockets) for this small pillow I made him this one, so the laundry machine could do his work.

knight dreams

I made a few things for someone who is helping me out enormously. He made his boys a lovely knight and castle room. This is one of the embroideries my parents found in France. I think it will match the room, hope they like it. I also made the two knights a name stamp and a knight costume. today we had a nice dinner together with our boys. thanks paul for all your great work!

challenge

I like a challenge. I tried to make a nice bag out of a piece of embroidery I really didn't like. This is the result...the pierrot bag! I'm starting to love the pierrot boy and girl.

birthday joy

yesterday Jilles celebrated his birthday with friends from school...our first children's party. wow what an experience with seven little boys...lucky for us the weather was great so we could take them to a playground in the forest. The theme was "zwarte piet" so I made the boys a with collar and gave them a "zwarte pieten" hat. It looked so cute seven little "zwarte pietjes".

first lustrum

today jilles turned five! what a lovely day, he is fast asleep now. saturday we celebrate his party for friends from his class...can tell you that he is not the only one excited for this event ;-)

big bag

my mother in law (yes, I'm quite busy with all these mother and mother in law requests ;-))) asked me to make her a large bag. I tried to make something which matches her good. She liked it a lot so I think my mission is completed.

The nice thing about this project is that everything was just right. I had all the materials to make this bag so I didn't have to go and search for parts. I like the way the leather shoulder-strap turned out.

present time

not only sinterklaas has arrived yesterday. I also received a lovely package from Lisette from hand maid liset. We did a swap and she really spoiled me with a wonderful hat, coasters and a lovely corsage. I just love her work, thank you lisette!

little farmer

my mother asked me to make something for her cousin's baby. She asked me to make something in a farmer style, because he is a dairy farmer. For no good reason I postponed it a lot to make something. Maybe it's because I didn't know how to make a good cow and since he's a dairyfarmer, that's the one that should be good. I hope the cow is a approved and little William is happy with it.

an eye for color

I have been experimenting with color. From the book "an eye for color" (from Olga Gutierrez De La Roza) I choose a picture and mixed these colors in different ways. I've framed the pieces of felt and it does look nice. I think I will try this again with an other image.

today was a busy day, we not only visited our niece but also went to visit maksim, welcome little boy...rock the rattle!

brithday girl

our niece is turning three! besides beautiful (???!!) glitter slippers we bought her in little india (in singapore) I made her a felt necklace. Hope she likes it...

a good friend of mine from Delft is moving to Dubai. made her this holland bag from one of the embroideries. Hope she doesn't get homesick.

can't stop

I feel so stupid because I can't stop making xmas ornaments.....and Sinterklaas hasn't even reached holland yet. they just seem to pop up in my sewing machine....

embroidery bag

This time my parents also bought very small embroideries, very cute ones. I made these small pen cases with zipper.

leftovers

I don't like to throw materials away. especially felt...so I tried something new with the remains of my felt collection. I liked the result, but unfortunately it turned out to short, because the wax cord I used wasn't long enough...I'm already working on a new one.

icecream

welcome Jasmijn...maybe it's because I only have boys but when I can make something for a girl it turns out very sweet (this time literally with the icecreams)

asian fabrics

almost forgot...but I've managed to score some very nice fabrics in KL. By coincidence I ran into a lovely fabric store in the middle of hectic Kuala Lumpur.

washing

Of course we had a lot of laundry after our four week holiday, but my parents made this pile even bigger because they bought more and more embroideries in France (I think they made a hobby out of it, scouting all the markets). It was so much work, but in the end I just loved how they looked hanging to dry.

transformed

last week I did a workshop at zijdelings with Anne, we had a great time, but I'm not sure if it suits me. we worked with synthetic fabrics and dye. Afterwards we visited a very nice exhibition in Eindhoven, meesterlijk. I loved the lamps they are from wonderable.

moonfestival

during our trip the chinese celebrated the moonfestival (also called the mid-autumn festival). Michael and Christina, the chinese couple were we stayed at that time in Kuala Lumpur were so hospitable to invite us to celebrate this festival with them...the icing on the cake in our holiday! Michael and Christina, thanks for this lovely experience!

islamic art

in our holiday I made one special trip with Jilles in Kuala Lumpur. Because Stije was a little bit ill Roel stayed with him in the guesthouse. we visited the islamic art museum, just the two of us. It was a beautiful museum and we had a great time.

back on track

I didn't tell you but we were away for almost four weeks...we have been discovering singapore and malaysia with the four of use. We had a great time and it gave me a lot of inspiration...so the sewing and felting can start ;-)))

Because I only had one of these (oil cloth) coasters. I decided to give it a make over...it became a lunchbag!

little experiment

I was curious how it turned out if I made a garland from felt, the same way they make paper garlands...I really love the result, but it's so much work and I don't know what to do with the result...maybe nice to attach some bells and decorate a pram??
