knight dreams

I made a few things for someone who is helping me out enormously. He made his boys a lovely knight and castle room. This is one of the embroideries my parents found in France. I think it will match the room, hope they like it. I also made the two knights a name stamp and a knight costume. today we had a nice dinner together with our boys. thanks paul for all your great work!

challenge

I like a challenge. I tried to make a nice bag out of a piece of embroidery I really didn't like. This is the result...the pierrot bag! I'm starting to love the pierrot boy and girl.

birthday joy

yesterday Jilles celebrated his birthday with friends from school...our first children's party. wow what an experience with seven little boys...lucky for us the weather was great so we could take them to a playground in the forest. The theme was "zwarte piet" so I made the boys a with collar and gave them a "zwarte pieten" hat. It looked so cute seven little "zwarte pietjes".

big bag

my mother in law (yes, I'm quite busy with all these mother and mother in law requests ;-))) asked me to make her a large bag. I tried to make something which matches her good. She liked it a lot so I think my mission is completed.
The nice thing about this project is that everything was just right. I had all the materials to make this bag so I didn't have to go and search for parts. I like the way the leather shoulder-strap turned out.

little farmer

my mother asked me to make something for her cousin's baby. She asked me to make something in a farmer style, because he is a dairy farmer. For no good reason I postponed it a lot to make something. Maybe it's because I didn't know how to make a good cow and since he's a dairyfarmer, that's the one that should be good. I hope the cow is a approved and little William is happy with it.

an eye for color

I have been experimenting with color. From the book "an eye for color" (from Olga Gutierrez De La Roza) I choose a picture and mixed these colors in different ways. I've framed the pieces of felt and it does look nice. I think I will try this again with an other image.

leftovers

I don't like to throw materials away. especially felt...so I tried something new with the remains of my felt collection. I liked the result, but unfortunately it turned out to short, because the wax cord I used wasn't long enough...I'm already working on a new one.

washing

Of course we had a lot of laundry after our four week holiday, but my parents made this pile even bigger because they bought more and more embroideries in France (I think they made a hobby out of it, scouting all the markets). It was so much work, but in the end I just loved how they looked hanging to dry.

vrijdag 2 oktober 2009

little experiment

I was curious how it turned out if I made a garland from felt, the same way they make paper garlands...I really love the result, but it's so much work and I don't know what to do with the result...maybe nice to attach some bells and decorate a pram??

dinsdag 29 september 2009

early

I decided this year to start early with the christmas decorations....so I will have enough time to make more than one ;-))

dinsdag 22 september 2009

autumn

little signs of autumn are showing...it inspired me to make this felt bag with leaves. It only needs one finishing touch, the attaching of the handles, but I don't have an industrial sewing machine...will have to find one nearby.

dinsdag 15 september 2009

a lot of work...

....not for me but for my parents. They are doing a lot of work in france, making tomatojuice, picking grapes and making wine, jams etc....so I made them some stickers with a stamp. I also made Thijs a stamp, he is a friend of Jilles and turned 5!

textile inspiration

Sunday I went to the last day of the "textiel bienale" in Rijswijk. I was very surprised, it was inspiring. Especially the use of materials and the combinations. silicones and textile, wool and cardboard etc..

maandag 14 september 2009

butterfly

Jilles created his first piece of art with felt. I was doing a pilot for a workshop for a little girl's birthdayparty. Jilles decided he wanted to join us and made this butterfly, with a little help of course...

woensdag 9 september 2009

more combinations

I just love combining the embroideries! And I'm a very lucky girl, because my parents just showed me at the webcam their new purchases in France...so I can continue mixing...

lavender

although we live in the city, there's enough space for green. My neighbor gave me this lovely lavender. It was in front of her house and every time I walked by the lovely smell surprised me.

zondag 6 september 2009

little fish

Made a new design for a baby rattle, mother and little fish. I think and hope the size is just right for baby hands. Maybe I will ask my nephew Willem to do a little test.

surprise

friday I found this lovely surprise on our doormat. Because I gave Sonja from studio pardoes a pattern. Thank you, I love the fabrics.

woensdag 2 september 2009

dinsdag 1 september 2009

felting by the pool

very relaxing and rewarding, felting by the pool...next step is to make something out of it...any ideas? besides a necklace?

donderdag 27 augustus 2009

holes

and some more experimenting.... I made this piece of felt with holes in it, I absolutely don't know what to do with it. While I was sewing, Stije saw the piece of felt and used it as a saddle for his wooden horse. Thank goodness he found a destination for it!

experiment

the week in France I tried do experiment a little (my intention was to do more, but whit 38 degrees the pool was more attractive). I made these big felt beads, but what to do with them. I attached a pin et voila!

woensdag 26 augustus 2009

curious

for my curious dad....hope you like your (late) birthday present.

inspiration

the cote d' azure not only gave me a lot of time to rest and enjoy, but also gave me new inspiration. Of course I took stuff with me to do some crafting, in my next posts I will show some of the results.
