baptism

last sunday we had a baptism of a little girl. I made her two baskets with a little gift in it.

My parents found me some new treasures in France. I love what they bought and of course I also love them for doing the big search. Now I will have to figure out what to make. I especially love the orange lady and gentleman, although I really don't know what to make out of it. They also found the ballerina once again (upper middle), of which I made the ballet bag, let's see if I can make something different with that one.

frustration

Normally I'm a (very) structured person, but with my dmc cotton and the thread for my sewing machine I just can't get along (I just can't understand why DMC wraps their cotton the way they do) It frustrates me....any suggestions?

a lot of my projects occur by coincidence. Like these earrings, I found one of them broken in a little box...and since I never wear pearls (can't remember when I did actually??) I thought why not replace them with a little wool bead. I think it was meant to be that these earrings were broken..

felting on

I produced a lot of felt bags and combined it with a cotton lining. Most of them with success, too bad I messed up one project (the large bag I showed before) because I used the washing machine on that one (I did it once before and that was a great success, but unfortunately 60 degrees is a little bit to much. It shrunk so much, that with a little luck and an industrial sewing machine (the felt coupons are to thick for my own machine) I can still use it to make a little bag...

My mother and father in law just started their trip to Praag....by bike! incredible. Together with the boys I made them little flags to hang on their bike. Hope they have a nice and save trip.

little fellow

A while ago I made this little fellow for friends who expect their third child. My boys are a great test panel because immediately after I finished it they played with it and the rattle inside worked out just fine.

mothersday

Sunday I've been spoilt. Stije made me this lovely bracelet (he calls the beads little candies, that explains the color he picked to paint them) and Roel and Jilles did a lot of little jobs in the house. Hope all you mothers had a lovely day.

saying goodbye

our neighbors moved last week and we already miss them very much. I made Alexandra a little felt bag and added some little "saying goodbye" gifts. Alex, we're going to miss you and your boys!

recycling

I found some leftover material (plastic for the balcony, to prevent against the wind). I used it to make these baskets. I used pink thread and the sewing of the star material worked out just fine.

opa & oma tea

Today the boys are going to stay over for the weekend with my in-laws. So we can enjoy the weekend with just the two of us. To surprise opa and oma we made them special tea. I saw this idea in a magazine from daycare. It's very simple. Cut out a nice form (can be anything), let your little artists do there thing and staple it to the label of the tea bag. I made a paperbag for this special tea (for the first time I sewed paper, which turned out surprisingly nice) et voila! In the magazine they used a jam jar to put the tea in, but that didn't work for me because I made the labels to big...next time I will improve that part of this little project ;-))

bizarre queensday

today was suppose to be a happy queensday, but an attack to our royal family during the festivities, turned the day in an odd queensday. I made this brooch to cheer up my outfit, because I don't own any orange clothing...

demanding

A while ago I made my husband an ipod case. And guess what.....this weekend he said to me: " I love the case you made me, but it can use some improvements, for example an opening for the buttons etc etc... pretty demanding, don't you think? But of course I decided to do something with this criticism and make my love a new ipod case.

postcard

Holiday started, so I have more time with the boys but less me-time. I managed to make these postcards, very simple, just a piece of "left-over" felt and a pencil.

3 minutes

I ordered free business cards (not that I do any business), but people kept asking my blog address, so I decided to do it this way. Because they were very boring I decorated them with (of course ;-))) felt. In just 3 minutes (seriously!) I made this simple felt bag to protect the cards, I was surprised about the result, just fold, stitch the sides and stitch a cord on it..

At the moment I am making this felt bag. It want it to turn out big, so it's a lot of work...but I'm going strong...

Bought a lot of new colors wool, love the way they look before felting.

first babyshower

Yesterday I had my first baby-shower.... She's is expecting a girl, so I made this pink bird with a little sound in it. I love how the silver feet turned out, but it took me a lot of effort to make them, so I think this bird is unique and will stay the one and only of his kind.

magnetic felt

A friend gave me a package of printable magnetic sheets (thanks Anne). I tried to print it, but that didn't work very well. So I decided to do an experiment and combine it with felt. It's very easy and I tried to make a little tutorial.

All you need is, some felt fabric, a pattern you like, glue (I used photo glue, because I didn't have anything else at the time, but I think it's better to use, general glue or textile glue, nevertheless the result with photo glue was o.k.). Just glue a little piece of felt on the magnetic sheet and cut out the form...ready is your felt magnet!

beads keychain

Since I made so many wool beads, it was time to experiment a little bit. The keychain is the result. I'm still figuring out how to knot it in different ways, to make some variations.

I printed this fabric a long time ago and didn't found a destination for it yet. yesterday the weather inspired me to make this beach bag. I think I will have to add a button, can test it today, because the weather is going to be great. beach here we come...

wednesday

Every wednesday we felt together in the studio of a friend. It's so much fun and a lot of beautiful things are made. Last wednesday I didn't have much inspiration so I made these felt beads. Hope this wednesday will be better..

At last I made a pattern from one of my new japanese books. It's a nice and simple pattern, if anyone is interested I can make a tutorial...just leave a message.

Instead of the eggs, my boys painted the eggcups...fun activity and very nice result to cheer up the eastertable.

In space

Tried to make a larger basket, but it turned out to big. Think I have to decrease it a little. I used the silver fabric but it is difficult to sew.

Yesterday Willem is born! He is the son of my sister in law. We're very proud of this little fellow. I made him a cowboy blanket and garland. Welcome Willem!

structure

love it how my eldest son always gives structure to everything. He already did that when he was very little (putting all the cars in line). But now his drawings skills get better, he even structures everything in his drawings.

finding form

It's funny how shapes originate. I made this music mobile for Jente, the babygirl of friends. I first made the squirrel and thought well what matches a squirrel? an acorn (So when the music plays the squirrel goes to the acorn). And since I bought a new sensational fabric (silver??!!) I made the acorn out of that fabric. I like the combination of colors and textures, but the shapes may be a little strange....anyway at least it's a funny result. I also made her the stamp.

looking forward

I know it's early, but because of the first little bit of sun I'm already looking forward to easter...

ballet birthday girl

yesterday my sisters daughter, Juul, turned 4! It's such a special age, so many changes, going to school, starting her first ballet classes. So I made her a balletbag with one of the embroideries my parents bought in France. The corsage with her initial can be removed. Hope she will become a great ballerina.

big difference

I bought a new lino cutter and that makes a big difference, for stamp making I always used an old one. It's a lot easier now, a few examples of the results.

getting organized

After a while of working on several projects everything is a total mess so getting organized again is inevitable. While cleaning up my working space I came along a pin cushion I made in the second grade, the beginning of my crafting and now so vintage ;-), sweet memories..
